Day 2Marble Marvels, Majestic Horses and Ancient Ruins: A Day in Ashgabat

Morning flight to Ashgabat, we will meet you at the airport with a welcome board. Then you will have Ashgabat city tour. In 2013 the Guinness Book of Records named Ashgabat“white marbled city” - here you can see the biggest number of structures in the world made out of the white marble. You will see Presidential Palace, Arch of Neutrality, Monument and park of Independence, the Earthquake and victims of WWII Mon-uments.

Then we will back to Ashgabat and visit Horse Farm to see a national pride of Turkmen people - Akhalteke horses, the nicest horses in the world. 5000 years ago, Turkmens begin breed Akhalteke horses. The World’s unique breed was never mixed with other breeds. Emperors like Alexander the Great, Darius I desired to own Ahalteke horses. There are over 35 beautiful horses in the farm. By superstition, every sick person who touches an Ahalteke horse will get well soon.

Next travel to Nissa Fortress -the Sanctuary of Parthian Kings. UNESCO declared the fortress a World Heritage Site in 2007. Nissa described as one of the first capitals of the Parthians. It was founded by Arsaces I (reigned c. 250 BC – 211BC), and reputedly the royal necropolis of the Parthi-an Kings, although it has neither been established that the fortress at Nissa was a royal residence or a mausoleum.

Day 3From Museum Tales to the Blazing Darvaza Gas Crater: A Day of Wonders

Today is going to be an exciting day filled with exploration and discovery.First, after a delicious breakfast, we'll visit the National Museum. This is a treasure trove of Turkmenistan's past. Inside, you'll find a vast collection of artifacts, documents, and exhibits that will take you on a journey through time. You'll learn about the history, traditions, and lifestyles of the Turkmen people. It's like opening a book of stories about this ancient land, from its early days to the present.

Then, we'll head to the city center. There, you can soak in the local atmosphere, see modern architecture side - by - side with historical elements, and maybe even do a bit of people-watching. It's a great chance to get a feel for the vibrant life of Ashgabat.

In the afternoon, get ready for an adventure! We'll drive to the Darwaza burning Gas Crater, which is locally known as "The Door to Hell". It's about a 3.5 - hour drive, but trust me, it's worth every minute. In 1971, during a drilling operation, the ground collapsed, creating this huge crater filled with natural gas. To prevent poisonous gas from spreading, the geologists decided to burn it. And guess what? It's still burning to this day! When we arrive in the evening, you'll be greeted by a spectacular sight. The orange flames dancing against the dark desert sky create a mesmerizing scene. We'll even have a BBQ dinner right there by the crater. It's an experience you won't forget, surrounded by the warmth of the fire and the vastness of the desert. So, let's make the most of today's amazing itinerary.

Day 4A Road Trip to Khiva Port: The Conclusion of Our Turkmenistan Adventure

After a picnic breakfast at the Hell Crater, you will be transferred to the Kniva Port to Uzbekistan. Wish you have a pleasant journey ahead.

  • Weather Considerations:Be aware of the weather conditions. Turkmenistan has a continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters. In summer, temperatures can soar, so bring lightweight, breathable clothing, sunscreen, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun. In winter, pack warm layers. When visiting Darvaza, note that it can get quite cold at night even in summer.

  • Health Precautions: Make sure you are up to date on your routine vaccinations. It is also a good idea to carry a basic first aid kit with you. The water quality may not be suitable for drinking in some areas, so it's better to drink bottled water. If you plan to travel to remote areas like Darvaza, consider consulting a doctor about any additional health precautions.

  • Language: The official language is Turkmen, and Russian is also widely spoken. Learning a few basic phrases in Turkmen or Russian can be helpful for communication. Consider carrying a phrasebook or using translation apps on your phone.

  • Photography: Be cautious when taking photographs. In some areas, especially government buildings or military installations, photography may be restricted. Always ask for permission before taking pictures of people, especially in rural areas. At Darvaza, while it's a great place for photography, be careful around the crater edge for your own safety.
