Day 1Arrive in Chengdu

Arrive in Chengdu, we will pick you up from the airport exit and drive you to the downtown hotel check-in.

Day 2People's Park & Kuan zhai Alley

Today, we will have a full-day city tour. We will start by exploring the city from People's Park. The park was built in 1911 and is now a relaxing place for locals. You can enjoy the picturesque scenery and appreciate various flower shows. Don't forget to try the tea at Heming Tea House – it's a must-do activity. Spend an afternoon, order a pot of tea, and just relax.

Later, we will visit Kuan & Zhai Alley, a well-preserved ancient street from the Qing Dynasty. It is a famous commercial and cultural pedestrian street in China with plenty of delicious food options for lunch. We will also stop by the Du Fu Thatched Cottage, a memorial originating as a temple dedicated to Du Fu, built about a thousand years ago during the Song Dynasty (960–1279).

Day 3Visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

Morning tour at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (known as Chengdu Panda Base) which is the best possible environment for rearing and breeding. Here, you can explore the daily life of the cute pandas, and see them eating bamboo at their active time. After lunch, we take the fast train to Jiuzhaigou, the train stops at Zhengjianguan, met the driver, and continue with the driving of 2.5hrs to Jiuzhaigou.

Day 4Jiuzhaigou Valley

Morning full-day sightseeing in Jiuzhaigou, a nature reserve in the north of Sichuan. It is known for its many multi-level waterfalls and colorful lakes and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. It belongs to category V (Protected Landscape) in the IUCN system of protected area categorization.

Day 5Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area

After bidding farewell to Jiuzhaigou, we will travel to visit the Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area. We'll walk up and take a cable car down. This area is the only well-protected plateau wetland in China. The surrounding scenery changes with the angle of the sunlight, bringing out colorful hues.

After our visit, we will take the fast train back to Chengdu. On the way, we will stop at Songpan Ancient City, also known as Songzhou in ancient times. Located in Jin'an Town, Songpan County, northeast of Aba Prefecture, it was built in the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty and was an important station for mutual markets. The ancient city of Songpan is serene and ancient. You can explore the ancient buildings on foot or by taking a rickshaw, seeking the traces of time left in this ancient city on the plateau and feeling the rich history of the ancient city. Additionally, you can climb up the ancient city tower and enjoy the magnificent surrounding scenery.

Day 6Leshan Giant Buddha

In the morning, we will visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, also known as Chengdu Panda Base. This is the best possible environment for rearing and breeding pandas. Here, you can explore the daily life of the adorable pandas and see them eating bamboo during their active time. After that, we will drive to Leshan and visit the Leshan Giant Buddha, which is 71 meters tall and sits at the confluence of three rivers. It is the tallest stone Buddha statue in the world, carved on the cliff of Lingyun Mountain to suppress floods. You can enjoy the spectacular view of the huge statue as you walk down narrow staircases to the foot of the Buddha. Later in the afternoon, we will arrive at Mount Emei, check in at the hotel, and enjoy a walking tour of Baoguo Temple and Fuhu Temple. (The hotel is very close to the Temple.)

Day 7Visit Mount Emei

What a wonderful day, this morning, you will take a 2-hour sightseeing bus from Baoguo Temple Station to Leidongping and then walk about 30 minutes to Jieyin Palace to take the cable car up to Golden Summit to enjoy the spectacular natural scenery. Descend by cable car and go to Wannian Temple Parking Lot by bus (about 1.5 hours). Here, you will visit the Wannian Temple, one of the first temples built on Mt. Emei, with a round-trip cable car. Watching people praying and doing offerings and listening to the chanting of the monks inside this ancient temple, you will get a sense of peace and serenity. After the tour, you will be escorted back to Chengdu (about 2.5 hours on-road).

Day 8Visit the Jinsha Site Museum & Wuhou Shrine

Today, we will drive to visit the Jinsha Site Museum, which showcases the ruins of the 3000-year-old Shu kingdom. The museum is expansive and includes the excavation site and beautiful displays of many uncovered objects created between 1200 and 600 BC. Afterward, we'll head back to the city for lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit Wuhou Shrine, known as the holy land of the Three Kingdoms period. It has been included in the first batch of major historical and cultural sites protected at the national level and is a national first-class museum.

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
