  • Dujiangyan Irrigation System

Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a renowned hydraulic engineering project that changed the face of agriculture in China. It is the non-dam used irrigation system with a long history over 2000 years. The historical irrigation system dates back to the 3rd century B.C and still functions.

  • Giant Panda Base

Chengdu is called the “Hometown of Giant Pandas”, which give you the best chance to see the cutest animal in the world. Chengdu Panda Base is the closest panda base to see over 100 giant pandas and their baby pandas. It will be a lovely experience to see these animals from a close distance.

Day 1Chengdu Arrival

Welcome to Chengdu! Upon your arrival, your local guide and driver will meet you at the arrival hall in the airport. And then escort you directly to your hotel and help you check in. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the surrounding part of Chengdu city.

Day 2Chengdu - Mount Qingcheng - Dujiangyan

After having a delighted breakfast, your first stop is Mount Qingcheng. Once you step in the mountain gate, you will see the quaint Taoist style architecture that inspired Dream Works to create the idyllic Panda Village in their movie, Kungfu Panda 3. Mount Qingcheng has a beautiful peak near the city, and another notable peak sits behind it.These peaks are called "Front Mountain" and "Back Mountain". Enjoy the temples and beautiful scenery on the mountain.

Then we will drive to Dujiangyan (40 minutes). Get into the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, it is really fascinating and a must visit for sure. It's quite impressive. For thousands of years, it has helped to make Sichuan a prosperous agricultural province in China.

After the visiting, driving back to Chengdu in the late afternoon.

Day 3Chengdu City Tour & Departure

Today, after breakfast, you will meet by your local guide and driver and then visit the Giant Panda Base, which is 15 kilometres away from the urban area. It is the only panda base in China and the top attraction of Chengdu! Giant Panda Base has over 50 giant pandas, and some other endangered species. Visit the nursery to see the highly successful breeding program, walk among the bamboo groves and shady walkways, and view the pandas at rest or play.It will be an amazing experience. Seeing these beautiful creatures play and roam around will be pure joy. 

Then we're going to visit the People's Park. As the name implies this is a garden for the people. People gather here for line dancing, to play cards, drink tea and practice calligraphy. There is also a lane reserved for matchmaking where parents display the biodata of their children, hoping to find a match for them. And there is also artificial lake where you can row boats. After visiting, go to the Wide and Narrow Alley, the alley is packed with eateries and souvenir shops. Chengdu is famous for its street food culture and this will be a good place to give it a try. It is a paradise for photographers and great place to stroll, visit little shops and have a Sichuan tea ceremony. 

Say goodbye to Chengdu, we suggest you book a flight after 19:00. Wish you a pleasant journey home!

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
