Baiyun Mountain is a national 5A-level scenic spot, known as the “Best Attraction of the Ram City.”It consists of more than 30 peaks, with its main peak, Moxing Ridge, standing at an altitude of 382 meters. The area is characterized by its undulating peaks and crisscrossing streams, and it boasts abundant vegetation. In spring, Baiyun Mountain is covered with blooming flowers, making it an ideal place for spring outings and flower-viewing. Climbing to the top of Moxing Ridge, visitors can overlook the entire urban area of Guangzhou and enjoy the magnificent scenery.

Opening Hours:The opening hours vary by entrance. 

The South Gate and West Gate are open 24 hours a day, while the North Gate is open from 7:00 to 22:00.

Suggested Visit Duration:  6-12 hours.

The Yuntai Garden is located at the southern foot of Baiyun Mountain and is the largest Western-style garden in China, covering an area of 250,000 square meters. Modeled after the Butchart Gardens in Canada, the garden is planted with a variety of precious flowers from China and abroad that bloom in all four seasons. The main axis of the garden features a series of illuminated fountains. At night, under the illumination of the lights, the flowing water shimmers with golden hues, creating a truly spectacular scene.

The Mingchun Valley is located in the dripping rock valley between the "Number One Peak in the South" and the "Nine-dragon(loong) Spring" on Baiyun Mountain. It is the largest natural birdcage in China and the second-largest in Asia. Here, more than 150 species and over 5,000 birds, including red-crowned cranes, swans, and peacocks, are free to roam, making it a true "Paradise for Birds." Visitors can admire a variety of rare birds and experience the charm of nature.

Forest of Steles of GuangzhouGuangzhou Inscriptions.jpg

Forest of Steles of Guangzhou is located at the foot of Moxing Ridge on Baiyun Mountain, covering an area of 16,000 square meters. Its predecessor was the Baiyun Temple, which was originally built during the Song Dynasty and later destroyed during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression before being reconstructed. The Forest of Steles is a collection of the finest Lingnan poetry and stone inscriptions, with the style of Lingnan gardens. It is divided into three sections: the Nanya Hall, the Xianmo Pavilion, and the cliff inscriptions area, displaying nearly 300 steles. Here, visitors can admire the poetic masterpieces of scholars from different dynasties as well as the works of modern calligraphers, making it an ideal place to appreciate Lingnan historical and cultural heritage.

The cuisine of Baiyun Mountain is renowned for its "mountain spring" features. The Shanshui Tofu Pudding is made with Baiyun Mountain spring water, known for its delicate and smooth texture. The Shanshui Rice Noodles are crystal clear. Both Baiyun Chicken Feet and Baiyun Pork Hands are characterized by their crisp and tender textures, being rich yet not greasy. The Water Chestnut Cake is sweet and refreshing, while the Chen Village Rice Noodles are thin, chewy, and smooth. These delicacies, with their unique flavors, are a must-try for visitors when they climb the mountain.




Best Time to Visit


The best seasons to visit Baiyun Mountain are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November).

In spring, the warm climate and blooming flowers, especially the azaleas covering the mountainsides, create a picturesque scene. 

Autumn is cool and comfortable, with fresh air and high visibility, making it ideal for mountain climbing and enjoying the autumn scenery.

It is recommended to visit between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM when the air is the freshest, perfect for hiking and morning exercises. 

If you plan to take the cable car, avoid typhoon seasons.
