11 Days Best Inner Mongolia Tour

Today you will take the flight to Ordos. Upon arrival, we will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to the hotel for checking in. The rest of the day you can have a rest at the hotel or enjoy your leisure time on your own.

Today, you will have fun on the sands and our first destination is the Whistling Dune Bay, which is named by the geographic phenomenon of "singing sand". Whistling Dune Bay is located in the Kubuqi Desert, Dalad Banner of Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. It situates at the easternmost borderline of desert in China and is called the Head of Dragon Desert. Han Tai Chuan River flows in front of it and Gu Zi Liang Mountain faces to the other side of the bank.

In the afternoon, we will drive back to Baotou for overnight stay. En route, you have 2 options to stop by and visit. (About 50km, about 1 hour)

Option 1 : Stop at a local paper cutting museum, where you will meet a local paper cutting expert and learn about traditional Chinese paper cutting. In the museum you can also find some masterpieces made by the owner of the museum.

Option 2 : Stop at a Yellow River featured town. This tour is located close to the Yellow River, the mother river of China. You may find some interesting architectures ever exist in this area. Visit a farming tool museum in the town. The designer was originally carpenter and he was interested in collection of old objects since he was 27 years old. He made this museum not only for a collection, but also want to display some farming objects that ever used in the past near. 

Your today's trip now kicks off! In the morning, we will drive to Laoniuwan - Yellow River Grand Canyon, Laoniuwan Geopark in Qingshuihe county of Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, covering a total area of 25.34 square kilometers. Located in the junction of Inner Mongolia and Shanxi Province, it is a place where China's two greatest symbols – the Great Wall and the Yellow River - meet. You can experience the local life style in ancient village.

Enjoy the sunrise in the early morning, then you will be arranged to Dazhao Temple, the largest and the most famous Tibetan Buddhism shrine in Hohhot. It also boasts the impressive buildings, a large collection of religious and cultural relics, among which the silver statue of Buddha, dragon sculpture and frescoes are the most cherished treasures.

Afterwards, continue the trip to Five-pagoda Temple. Originally built in ancient Indian style, it is one of the only remaining parts of the Ci Deng Temple compound located in the Old City of Hohhot. (Closed on Monday).

Then, stroll leisurely around in the old streets and taste some local snacks. If time allows, visit local Zhaojun Museum. (Closed on Monday)

After breakfast, we will drive to the Xilamuren grassland (About 120km, 2 hours), which is at an altitude of 1,800 meters which features a sea of flowers, countless lakes, and Heishan Mountain, with its grotesquely-shaped rocks. You’ll be warmly welcomed by local Mongolians who are colorfully dressed. For your free time, you can also take some optional Mongolian activities like archery, horse racing, and Mongolian-style-wrestling performances.

In the afternoon, enjoy the horsemanship performance, meeting at the yurt, you will see the traditional activities of Mongolian wresting and Mongolian activities in the show. Optional tour: there are many activities you can experience, such horse riding, take a horse carriage, or the welcome dinner with singing and performance.

In the evening, take part in a bonfire party and enjoy traditional dancing and local songs presented by the local Mongolians.

The sunrise on the grassland is one of the greatest marvelous spectacles in nature. If you don't want to miss the chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery on the grassland, you’d better get up early in the morning. Watch sunrise and see everything turns brighter and brighter.

After breakfast, enjoy some free time to walk around and breathe some fresh air. It will be a fantastic morning before you transfer back to Hohhot. You are suggested with optional horse riding on the grassland. (30 minutes)

Afterwards, visit so-called Yellow flower grassland. June is the flower blossom season and you can see the beautiful flowers scattering on the grassland. (One-way cable car, scenic cars are included). There are some experiences you can participate, such as the archery, changing traditional Mongolian clothes etc.

After having fun in the grassland, we will transfer back to Hohhot. If time allows, you can follow our guide to visit some internet popular places and learn about modern inner Mongolia. 

In the morning, you will take the flight to Chifeng. Upon arrival, your guide and driver will meet you at the airport.

Then transfer to Yulong Sand Lake, a wonderful place to experience the sands in Inner Mongolia. You will hop on a mini train (40 minutes) around the lake to appreciate the beauty of this area. Then you will ride a camel in the desert.(10 minutes)

This area has many activities that you can experience for optional tour, such as sand sliding, 4W drive, sand motorbike and etc.

Another wonderful day is coming, after breakfast, we will drive to visit Qingshan Geo Region, which is formed about 100 million years ago and discover the stone forests with rock pillars in various shapes and forms.

Continue to Hot Water Town. This small town is famous for the natural hot spring. Stay in local hot spring hotel. The hot water is quite famous and many people will stay in the hotel for many days for the hot spring, which is said to a good Treatment of rheumatism. 

Today we are going to visit a natural wonder of the Ashatu Stone Forest. As you gaze afar at the Ashatu Stone Forest, the azure sky complements the vast mountains and plains, while a gentle breeze chases after the ethereal clouds. Here, hills and grasslands coexist harmoniously, and birch forests intertwine with the stone forest, showcasing the exquisite beauty of nature in a unique and serendipitous union.

Continue to the National Forest Park. The entire park is divided into four sections, each teeming with a wide variety of typical northern tree species, mainly including black pines, spruces, and larches, creating a rare forest scenery amidst the vast Inner Mongolian grasslands. As you wander through the woods, admiring the naturally formed mountain and stone landscapes, you will be struck by the captivating charm of nature's unparalleled craftsmanship.

The journey is still ongoing. Today's destination is the Xilamulun Grand Canyon. The Xilamulun Grand Canyon, geologically known as the Xilamulun Deep Fault, is located at the southern edge of the Greater Xing'an Mountains and extends along the Xilamulun River in a nearly east-west direction. It is 340 kilometers long and 50 kilometers wide. One of the most important deep fractures.

Continue to visit the Spruce forest, the largest Spruce forest living in the sands in the world. After the leisure time, back to the hotel for overnight stay, have a good rest!

Always hard to say goodbye to our tourists. Today in the morning, we will drive back to Chifeng and you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight back to your sweet home. It has been a great Inner Mongolia holiday and we look forward to seeing you in another China trip!
