Mingyue Mountain


Mingyue Mountain is composed of twelve peaks with altitudes above 1,000 meters, including Taiping Mountain, Yujing Mountain, Laoshan, and Yangshan. The main peak, Taiping Mountain, reaches a height of 1,735.6 meters, making it the second-highest peak within Yichun City. Mingyue Mountain boasts numerous honors, including being a national scenic area, a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction, a national forest park, a national natural heritage, and a hometown of hot springs in China. The mountain’s shape is semicircular, resembling a half-moon, hence its name, Mingyue Mountain. The climate resources here are abundant, with a crop growing season spanning over 300 days and ample annual rainfall. The rich light and heat provide an exceptional environment for the growth of plants and animals, earning it the reputation of a “natural zoo” and a “kingdom of plants.”

The Qingyun Trail within the scenic area is one of the seven most dangerous suspended trails in China. Located at an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters on the top of Mingyue Mountain, it is about 3,100 meters long in total. Walking on it feels like stepping on the clouds. Moon Lake is situated at Mingyue Temple on the top of Mingyue Mountain, with an altitude of 1,530 meters. The lake scenery and surrounding mountains complement each other, creating a breathtakingly beautiful sight. Additionally, the scenic area boasts abundant hot spring resources, particularly the selenium-rich Wentang Hot Spring, which has a history of over 2,000 years. Mingyue Mountain Scenic Area is also a religious tourism destination, with numerous religious buildings and sites of Buddhism and Taoism. The name of the cave originates from its unique natural scenery: moonlight shines like daylight, and stars twinkle, creating a dreamy atmosphere for visitors. Stepping into Xingyue Cave is like entering a magical world. The cave is connected from top to bottom, warm in winter and cool in summer, with a spring-like climate all year round. Moon Lake

Originally, it was a concave area on the top of the mountain, surrounded by peaks on all sides except for a saddle in the north. To fully utilize the limited water resources, people built a water dam at the saddle, thus forming this scenic moon-shaped lake - Moon Lake. According to legend, this was the place where Chang'e flew to the moon, adding a romantic and legendary color to Moon Lake. Moon Lake is also a great destination for tourists to relax and unwind. Walking along the lakeside, breathing in the fresh air, and admiring the beautiful scenery of the lake and mountains is truly refreshing and uplifting.


Shanyungu Flying Waterfall

Shanyungu Flying Waterfall is known as the highest waterfall in the south of the Yangtze River and one of the eight ancient scenic spots in Yichun. With a drop height of 119.57 meters, it got its name “Shanyungu Flying Waterfall” because the top of the mountain is always shrouded in clouds and mist, and the waterfall seems to pour out from the clouds. The four big characters "Shanyungu Flying Waterfall" are carved on the steep wall. With its unique geographical location, magnificent scenery, and rich cultural connotations, Mingyue Mountain Shanyungu Flying Waterfall has become a shining pearl in the Mingyue Mountain Scenic Area, attracting countless tourists to visit.
