Pakistan's restaurant industry has recently shaken up the local dining scene with a spate of exciting new diners and hip bars. Many additions to the city's burgeoning culinary arena specialize in international cuisine, catering to the numerous diplomats employed in the city as well as adventurous foodies.
The Monal (Margalla Hills, Islamabad 44000, Pakistan +92 51 2898044)
Monal is the best place for the visitors, this place has unique glimpse of small green mountains and the small forests around here. This place is actually called Margalla Hills Islamabad. Islamabad sprawls at the feet of the verdant Margalla hills, the foothills of the Himalayas which make for the city’s captivating backdrop; the bird’s eye view of Islamabad from the hills is priceless. The Monal provides an excellent view of this breath-taking panorama. The restaurant is quite a bit off the beaten track, but the drive across the lush hillsides to reach it is a worthwhile experience in itself. Once there, dining on any of the seven, large outdoor terraces while overlooking the entire city in the distance offers an incomparable experience. The Monal serves an interesting range of different cuisines, including Italian, French, a selection of Asian specialties and the popular barbecued meats. Beautiful place with speechless view. Family place. Food was amazing and yummy. When you visit Islamabad you must visit Monal you love it.
Kabul Restaurant (College Road, Jinnah Market, Islamabad, Pakistan +92 51 2650953)
Kabul Restaurant has some of the best BBQ in Islamabad. You must try the chicken boti, this was the most flavorsome! There are options for vegetarians too (veggie dumping, aborigine). It’s also ridiculously cheap so you can order to your heart’s content. The Kabul is an Islamabad landmark. In the warm summer evenings tables spread out onto the pavements and families sit outside talking and eating. The reason to come here is the excellent food - watch it being made over the grill. This is excellent value for money and a great place to watch Pakistani society walk by...there is also an excellent bakery. Go enjoy, trust the food and the people, you won’t be disappointed.
Andaaz Restaurant(2189 A Fort Road Historic walled city Lahore, Lahore 54000, Pakistan +92 300 0263229)
Good place to enjoy the environment, old city apart from having the local cuisines. The places close to restaurant are Badshahi mosque, Data Ganj Baksh shrine, Pakistan monument. Good place for family dine in. Ideally to come for dinner. The food at Andaaz totally lives up to its hype. Its best place for all foreigners visiting as the food is not overly drenched in oil or excessive spices.
Kolachi Restaurant(Beach Avenue, DHA Phase 8, Karachi, Pakistan +92 21 32003628)
Kolachi has succeeded in securing a prominent place among Karachi’s notable eateries over the past few years. It is located on dau darya which is a restaurant’s belt by the sea in DHA area. It has outside sitting in comfortable sofas on wooden terraces hanging over the sea lit with rustic dim lighting. Though it’s usually crowded but surprisingly the sitting area is not noisy. Perfect for romantic family evenings in winters (Karachi’s winters are very mild) but I would not recommend it for summers as soaring temperatures make the sitting outside a struggle. Climate gets stuffy and sticky.
Great food, fast service, wonderful views, soothing ambiance, what more does one need? There is a reason why it has become a top restaurant in Karachi almost overnight! Although their kitchen is open, they even agree to detailed kitchen visits if you want to view the process closely.
