Xining Caojiapu International Airport
There are seven airports in Qinghai Province, of which Xining Caojiapu International Airport is the most commonly used by tourists, as it operates flights between most cities in China. It is also the only international airport in Qinghai that has connections with Asian cities such as Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, and Kuala Lumpur. Other airports such as Yushu Batang Airport, Geermu Airport, and Huatugou Airport operate only within Qinghai Province and have several flights brtween Beijing, Chengdu, Xi'an and Lhasa. Therefore, Xining is the first choice for travelers. If there are no flights to Xining in your city, you can fly to a big city in China first and then transfer to Xining.
Get to Qinghai By Train
Xining Station
Qinghai has three railway stations: Xining Railway Station, Xiningxi Railway Station and Golmud Railway Station. Xining Railway Station is located in Xining City, Qinghai Province. It is the intermediate station of Lanzhou-Xin high-speed Railway, and also the starting and ending station of Lanzhou-Qinghai Railway and Qinghai-Tibet Railway. Golmud Station is located in Golmud City of Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai.
There are three major railways in Qinghai, namely Qinghai-Tibet Railway, Lanzhou-Xining Railway and Lanzhou-Urumqi High-speed Railway. You can take these railways to Xining, Golmud, Delingha, Huatugou, Wulan in Qinghai. It is suggeted to choose Xining Railway Station, which operates high-speed trains on the Silk Road from Xi’an to Urumqi, as well as regular trains to major Chinese cities such as Beijing, Lhasa, Chengdu and Taiyuan.
Qinghai-Tibet Railway is the highest altitude and longest plateau railway in the world, which starts from Xining City in Qinghai Province to Lhasa. We can say that the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is a tourist line, with unique scenery of plateau, lakes, rape blossoms, highland barley, snow-capped mountains, etc. The broadcast on the train will introduce every scenic spot passing by. You will feel like sitting on a sightseeing bus traveling in a gallery. You can take the train in the following cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou.
