Dujiangyan Irrigation System

The Dujiangyan Irrigation System, located in Sichuan Province, China, is a remarkable feat of ancient engineering that dates back 2,200 years to the Qin Dynasty. Constructed by the local governor Li Bing, this irrigation infrastructure revolutionized the agricultural landscape of the Chengdu Plain. Originating in 256 BC during the Warring States period, the Dujiangyan Irrigation System was built along the Min River in Sichuan Province, near Chengdu's capital. The system effectively solved the issues of irrigation, flood control, and sediment removal, transforming the Chengdu Plain into a fertile and prosperous region.

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, the Dujiangyan Irrigation System is not just a waterworks but a cultural symbol of China's ancient civilization. To this day, the Dujiangyan Irrigation System continues to irrigate over 5,300 square kilometers of land in the region, benefiting millions of farmers and residents. Its design principles and management practices have inspired numerous modern irrigation projects worldwide.

Now, it has some main attractions that await you in this captivating destination, such as Yulei Mountain, Erwang Temple, Fulong Temple, Anlan Suspension Bridge, water projects, etc.
