Day 1Kashgar Arrival

In the morning, we will meet you at the airport / train station and transfer you to the hotel check in. tonight you will have a good rest.

Day 2Drive to Taxkorgan and visit Karakul Lake (320 kms)

Morning we will drive on the China and Pakistan Highway. You can enjoy the magnificent Bulongkol Lake, also known as Baisha Mountain (white Sand Mountain). It is located in the Pamir Plateau, a large plateau in the Pamir mountain range at an altitude of about 3500 to 5000m with mountains up to more than 7000m, located next to the Karakoram Highway, so it is one of the must stop spot on the way to Karakul lake and Taxkorgan. This view shows the central part of the plateau from the southeast covering Tajikistan in the center, Eastern China on the right and Afghanistan as well as northern Pakistan on the foreground left. 

Experience beautiful Karakul Lake where the herds of livestock around the lakeside are reflected in lake Kirghiz herdsmen usually settle down and graze their herds. The following day will be spent exploring the stunning landscape surrounding the highway, then drive to Taxkrogan County for overnight stay.

Day 3Taxkorgan back to Kashgar

Today you will visit the Stone Fortress. The city is oval in shape and the city walls were built with sun-dried bricks on stone foundation. It is 1285 metres in circumference outside. Over the past few years, new wooden pathways have been constructed to allow tourist to walk these beautiful grasslands, known as the Golden Grassland. From here you can get even better photos of the Stone Fortress. Thereafter, we will drive back to Kashgar

Day 4Kahgar City Tour

Today you will enjoy a full day excursion of Kashgar. Pay a visit to Id Kah Mosque, the largest Mosque in China and the most sacred mosque for the locals to practise their Islamic activities at 09:00. Continue the visiting to Old Town at 10:30 with the open ceremony of Maxilap show. Come and Join the exciting movement in this well-preserved Uighur residential area.Our speciality: Relaxing in the Hundred-years Tea house,taste the local rose tea and nang-bread!

After Lunch in the local Restaurant. Continue to visit the Handicraft street, it gathered hundreds of handicraft workshops, which has become a boutique exhibition for handicraft in Kashgar and Central Asia.

Then drive to Sunday Bazaar that is combined two section. The covered bazaar sells the clothing, nuts, household goods and many things out of your imagination. It is quite interesting to witness their typical methods of bargin.  Return to hotel for the night and have a good rest!

Day 5Kashgar to Naryn

After breakfast, we will meet you at the hotel lobby and transfer you to the Torugart border. Your Kyrgyz guide will meet you on the border and you will be transferred to the Tash Rabat Caravanserai on the Great Silk Road (Stone Castle from the 14th century). The building is unique. Tash Rabat is located at the very heart of Tian Shan Mountains.  Tash Rabat was built of stone blocks inside a mountain at an elevation of 3200 m above sea level. In total there are 31 rooms in the mountain. The walls are 1 m thick. There are also underground prison cells formerly used to incarcerate thieves in ancient times. After excursion you will drive to Naryn. Night is in a yurt.

Day 6Naryn to Bishkek

Today we will depart from Naryn and drive to our next stop Bishkek. You will drive along mountain roads and on the way you will move over few high passes. The highest one is called Dolon pass. It is 3030 meters high above the sea level! Today it will be possible to meet real nomads that still live in yurts. Yurts are collapsible nomadic dwellings that are made of felt and wood without using a single nail. You will be shocked by the beauty of our mountains that stayed almost untouched till nowadays.


Then we will arrive to Kochkor village. There you will have lunch with a local family to find out more about Kyrgyz people. They will show you the way our national felt carpets are produced. You even can create your own carpet together with them! Also you will visit a small local Handicraft museum. At this place you will get acquainted with nomadic traditions. On our way to Bishkek, we will visit the Burana Tower (minaret from the 11th century) and an Open Air Museum of Balbals (stone warriors). In the capital you will have dinner in a national restaurant.

Day 7Bishkek Departure

Today your journey ends. After Breakfast you will be transferred to International airport to have a flight.

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
