9 Days Silk Road Gansu Tour

Today you will arrive in Lanzhou - the capital of Gansu Province. It has been a centre since early times, being at the southern end of the route leading via the Gansu (Hexi) Corridor across Central Asia, and it also commands the approaches to the ancient capital area of Changan (modern Xi' an) in Shaanxi province from both the west and the northwest.

Meet your guide and driver at the airport, upon arrival you will be taken to downtown hotel and check in.

Today tour begin with driving around 1.5 hours we will arrive in Binlings Temple, taking the 40mins fast boat into the park. You will see the stone sculptures and appreciate the miracle of Buddha caves, dating from the social situations and customs in ancient time.

After lunch, it takes 3 or 4 hours to drive from Lanzhou to Xiahe, an ethnically-Tibetan town in Gansu Province. We will head to visit the natural picturesque pasture - Songke Grassland, where you can see the Tibetan nomads graze their drove. Lying in a sea of green and bathing in the warm sunshine. Visit Tibetan family and wear tibetan cloth, drink milk tea and traditional food. Drive to hotel for overnight stay.

After breakfast, head to Labrang Monastery, the most populous monasteries outside of Tibet. It is advisable to stay at Thangka Sunning Terrace that is one of a good place to view the monastery and surrounding scenery. The whole monastery is surrounded by wheels, people usually pray for chasing away the troubles by rotating the wheels.

Drive back to Lanzhou, upon arrival, take you to the train station to catch the train to next stop Zhangye.

Star the tour with experience the 900-year old impressive Buddha culture and architectural treasures, located in the downtown - Grand Buddha Temple. Then visit 1600years old Mati Temple which is a hanging temple carving into the face of the cliff. Please note: The steps inside of the hanging caves are very narrow, may not suit for the larger and stronger people. But the scenery of the snow covered Qilian Mountain see afar is amazing and fresh.

Continue the tour with driving to Zhangye Linze County. Pay a visit to the masterpiece of Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park, situated in the north of Qilian mountains with a distance of 40 km from east Zhangye city. You will be marveled by the red-coloured sand stones and conglomerates of largely Cretaceous age. It is a unique type of petrographic geomorphology found in China. Afterwards, back to hotel for rest.

Driving from Zhangye to Jiayuguan with about 2-3 hours. Begin your tour to the most important chapter of Silk Road - Jiayuguan Fortress. It is very well maintained and beautiful views from the fort of the snowy mountains one side and black mountains other side.

Continue the tour to Weijin Tombs, known as the largest subterranean art gallery with a great deal of colorful murals in the world, has attracted tourists from all over the world housing. Afterwards, transfer to the hotel and check in.

Continue west to the Dunhuang. We will visit the Yulin Grottoes which paintings are generally in good shape,especially the green blue colour of paintings are original and very rare.

Next stop is Echoing Sand Mountain, where you can You can ride camels, slide down the dune, just a walk up the sand dune with wooden stairs to help you to have a great bird's eye view of Crescent Lake, ride helicopters, ride a personal plane, and of course, walk around Crescent Lake itself. And experience the beautiful desert scenery in the sunset.

Full day exploration in Dunhuang. First visit the Mogao Grottoes, may also be known as the Dunhuang Caves. It contain some of the finest examples of Buddhist art spanning a period of 1,000 years. 

Coming out from the Mogao Grottoes, you can stroll around at the Shazhou Night Market with interesting and different types of things to see and food to eat; souvenirs, handicrafts, fruits, food, nuts, etc.

There is another day to explore Dunhuang. 

Pick you up from the hotel and drive to Yangguan Pass, featured in the Tang Dynasty Poems and Han Dynasty events. 

Afterwards, we will be going to called "Yadan Ghost City" - the Yadan National Geological Park. From here you can appreciate wonderful and fascinating landscapes of Gobi desert. 

Return to downtown and have a good rest in the hotel.

Morning after buffet, meet your guide and driver at the hotel lobby. Transfer to the airport or train station. Your enjoyable tour ended. Looking forward to seeing you next time.
