Day 1Depart from Kathmandu

On the first day of your journey, our staff in Kathmandu will escort you to the Nepal-China border. The 130-kilometer drive takes approximately 7 hours, offering breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks and lush forests along the southern foothills of the Himalayas. And when you arrive at the Nepalese border town of Rasuwa Gadi, where you'll stay overnight before crossing into Tibet the next day.

Day 2Spend a Day in Gyirong to Acclimate to the Altitude

When you are ready, our Nepalese border staff will escort you to the Tibet border, where you'll meet your Tibetan tour guide. On your first day in Tibet, just take time to acclimatize to the plateau's high altitude and unique environment, ensuring you're ready to explore higher elevations.

Your guide will then lead you to the hidden gem of Tibet—the breathtaking Gyirong Valley. Experience the thrill of crossing a jeep cable bridge over the canyon, visit traditional Tibetan Sherpa villages on foot, and immerse yourself in the stunning scenery of snow-capped mountains and lush forests that define Gyirong Valley.

Day 3Hold Your Breath for Himalayas

With the sound of engine rotating, you will start your journey to the Himalayas, where Mount Everest reveals its towering presence. Along the way, you'll have a close encounter with another Himalayan peak, Shishapangma, and the picturesque Peiku Tso Lake at its foothills. Stand in awe at the renowned Dingri and Gawula Viewpoints, you will find Mount Everest looks like a huge pyramid standing in front of you. As the golden hour approaches, watch in wonder as the setting sun paints Everest's snow-capped summit in hues of amber and rose, a spectacle that feels almost otherworldly.

Day 4Enjoy the Charm of Tashilhunpo Monastery

Enjoy a chill morning and then when you are ready, you will head east to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet. Upon arrival, you are going to visit the renowned Tashilhunpo Monastery, the largest monastery in western Tibet, which serves as the historic residence of the Panchen Lamas. This iconic monastery is celebrated for its grand architecture, adorned with gold and vibrant colors. Key highlights include the world's largest gilded copper Buddha statue, the sacred stupas housing the relics of past Panchen Lamas, and the intricate Buddhist murals that showcase exquisite craftsmanship.

Day 5Marvel at Yamdrok Lake and Karola Glacier

After a refreshing morning, you are going to explore the Pelkor Chode Monastery in Gyantse. This historic monastery is renowned for its unique blend of different Tibetan Buddhist sects, making it a significant spiritual hub.

On the way to Yamdrok Lake, you will make a stop at the stunning Karola Glacier. Situated on the southern slope of Mount Noijin Kangsang, the massive glacier tongue extends to the roadside, resembling a frozen waterfall suspended overhead.

As you arrive at Yamdrok Lake, the guide will drive you along the lake's shoreline, leading you to the Gangbala Pass Viewpoint. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the turquoise lake surrounded by majestic mountains. Along the way to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, you will also visit a local lakeside village and step into the homes of farmers to experience their daily life and savor a traditional farmhouse lunch.

Day 7Continue the Spiritual Tour in Lhasa

Today, you will going to extend your Lhasa adventure with an unforgettable day exploring its cultural and spiritual treasures. Begin with a leisurely morning, then you will set off to the iconic Potala Palace. Here, you'll encounter remarkable murals and exquisite Buddha statues, showcasing the accumulated wealth and treasures of ancient Tibet.

Next, the guide will let you dive into authentic Tibetan culture by joining traditional folk activities where locals gather to celebrate their heritage. After that, you'll continue to the sacred Jokhang Temple, and feel the devotion of pilgrims as you admire its golden roof and ancient statues.

If you want to get to know more about the locals, just have a wander through the Barkor Street, a vibrant pilgrimage circuit lined with colorful shops, handicrafts, and cultural landmarks, offering a perfect blend of spirituality and local life. Application of Tibet Permits for Foreigners and Taiwanese

  • Foreigners (including overseas Chinese) need to provide information to the Tibet Tourism Bureau to apply for "Tibet Travel Permission". You need to provide documents according to our guidance.

  • If you are coming to China for tourism purpose with“L”Chinese tourist visa, you need to provide clear and complete passport page images and Chinese visa images.

  • If you are working, studying, residing in China, or visiting China for business, in addition to your passport and visa images, you also need to provide certificate from your Chinese company or school.

  • If you plan to enter Tibet directly from Nepal, you need to personally visit the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu to apply for a Chinese visa(Single Entry 30 days). Please go to our local office in Kathmandu at least 3 working days in advance, We will arrange all the procedures for your Chinese visa application. If you previously have a Chinese visa, your existing visa will be revoked upon obtaining the new visa. In addition to the visa fee charged by the embassy, you are required to pay an additional $20 service fee for visa processing.

  • The entire procedure is fully serviced, you just simply provide the documents to our travel agency. The deadline for submitting the application is 10 working days before the tour departure. If want to go to Mt.Kailash, you need to send the documents to us 15-20 working days in advance.

  • Once all approval procedures are completed, we will send the Tibet Travel Permission to your designated address via email or mail (within China only). When boarding the train/flight, the staff at the port will check your Tibet Travel Permission, please ensure its proper safekeeping.


More Tour Notices

  • Before applying for the Tibet Travel Permit, please ensure that your passport has a validity period of at least 6 months.

  • When entering Tibet from Kathmandu, China visa needs to be processed in Kathmandu. Please do not apply in your home country in advance. If tourists previously had a long-term valid Chinese visa, it will be replaced with a 30-day valid group tourist visa when applying in Kathmandu.

  • Only Chinese Yuan is accepted in Tibet. If you need Chinese Yuan, you can exchange it with US dollars locally or withdraw cash from ATMs.

  • Maintain good health before entering Tibet and avoid catching a cold.

  • When traveling on transportation to Tibet, both the airport and train station will check the Tibet Travel Permit. Please keep this official document safe and avoid writing or drawing on it.

  • Before traveling to Tibet, please confirm that you have received the Tibet Travel Permit and check and verify your personal information.

  • People with serious hypertension, heart disease, asthma, pregnant women, etc., are not recommended to travel to Tibet.

  • If worried about altitude sickness after entering Tibet, you can take a moderate amount of Rhodiola oral liquid or capsules before entering.

  • During the Tibet tour, you are required to travel with the group throughout the journey and cannot leave the group activities at will.

  • Pack vitamins and regular medications in your luggage.

  • When traveling at high altitudes, drink plenty of water, engage in slow-paced activities, and consume fruits and vitamin supplements.

  • Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol when you are new to high altitudes.
