Barkhor Street, also known as Bajiao Street, is located in the Chengguan District of Lhasa. It is a famous circumambulation road and commercial center in Lhasa, which preserves the traditional appearance and living style of the ancient city. In November 2023, Barkhor Street was selected as the third batch of national tourism and leisure blocks.

Barkhor Street was built for Jokhang Temple, and with the development of Jokhang Temple, it has a history of more than 1300 years. With the deepening of the religious status of Jokhang Temple, Tibetan Buddhism believes that a clockwise detour with Jokhang Temple as the center is a “circumambulation”, which means worshipping the Buddha statue enshrined in Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street has become one of the three circumambulation roads in Lhasa.
Festival Street
On Fairy Day, people will spontaneously come to Lhasa and come to the patio of Jokhang Temple. From 5:00 in the morning, they will either hold Hada or highland barley wine and worship and pray to Zun Wenwu Auspicious Tianmu and Srongtsen Gampo, the custodians placed in the patio of the outer courtyard of Jokhang Temple, to welcome this annual Tibetan Fairy Day.
