Basum Lake is about 18 kilometers long, the lake area is about 27 square kilometers, the deepest is 120 meters, and the lake is 3480 meters above sea level. Basum Lake is a famous sacred lake of the Nyingma of Tibetan Buddhism with high religious status. The lake is green, surrounded by green hills. The temple on the island in the middle of the lake has a long history, which has sculptures and buildings and is also a holy place for praying.
The tourism development of Basum Lake's scenic spot is relatively mature. After entering the scenic spot, you need to take a sightseeing bus to play. Generally, you will stop at three points on the road: the mid-lake island (湖心岛) , the observation deck, and the Jieba village (结巴村). In addition, there are yachts in the scenic spot.
Center Island of Basum Lake, a small island located in the middle of Basum Lake, is connected by a pontoon bridge between the land and the island. You can walk up through this bridge or take a boat to reach it. Legend has it that the island is a "hollow island", which means the island is not connected to the bottom of the lake and floats on the lake. Although it is only a legend, it makes people feel amazing. When you go to the island, you might as well try stamping your feet in some places to see if there is a hollow feeling.
Cuozong Gongba Temple: It is located on Basum Island, a famous temple of the Nyingma Sect of the Red Sect in Tibet. It was built in the late Tang Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,500 years. The whole temple is of civil structure, with two floors up and down. The main houses in the temple are Padmasambhava and Thousand-hand Bodhisattva. There is a peach and pine tree in the south of the temple. Peach blossoms and pine trees set each other off in spring, which is really beautiful.
