Shaxi Ancient Town
Shaxi Town is located in the southwest of Jianchuan County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, at the southeastern end of the Laojun Mountain area, a world natural heritage site where the Jinsha River, Lancang River, and Nujiang River flow together. It is situated between the Dali Scenic Area and Shangri La and Lijiang.
Shaxi Town was once an important station on the ancient tea-horse road. Now Shaxi is quieter and simpler, and it also better preserves the style of the tea-horse town. Xingjiao Temple is a major attraction of Shaxi. It is the only remaining Baizu “Atoli” Buddhist temple in the Ming Dynasty. The murals and sculptures inside are worth savoring. Walking on the street slowly enjoys the ancient city of Dali. Quiet and comfortable.
