Under the guidance of the central government’s policy of opening up to the outside world, the  foreign economy and trade of Yunnan province have developed rapidly. It has formed a pattern of opening up to the outside world based on Great Southwest China, with Kunming City, the capital of Yunnan, as the center, and the open border cities and the borderline as the front line, facing Southeast Asia and the whole world. Since 1993, Yunnan Province has successfully organized the “China Kunming Export Commodities Fair” for 16 consecutive times in conjunction with various provinces and regions of China and ASEAN countries. With the strengthening of economic cooperation in the Lancangjiang-Mekong subregion, Yunnan is becoming a gateway and frontier for opening up to the outside world in southwestern China.
