11 Days Southeast Yunnan Tour from Kunming to Jianshui

Today you will take the flight to Kunming. Kunming is the capital city of Yunnan Province in China and is known as a a city of contineous spring with a mild climate. Upon arrival, meet and greet by our local representative transfer back to hotel for check in. 

After breakfast, we will transfer and visit Stone Forest – a notable set of limestone formations. The tall rocks seem to emanate from the ground in the manner of stalagmites, with many looking like petrified trees thereby creating the illusion of a forest made of stone.

After lunch, drive to visit a local traditional Yi village- Nuohei Village, nearly everything in this village is built with Stone, including stone laid roads, stone walls, stone laid square, and a large quantity of stone houses. Stone houses here mostly have two floors. Moreover, what may surprise you is that you can’t see any cement mortar among stone gaps. Then drive to the hotel close to Stone Forest for overnight stay.

Morning enjoy the delighted buffet at hotel, then we will drive 1 hour to visit Keyi Town and local museum for Yi Culture and enjoy the“China Intangible Cultural Heritage”- local dancing show “Axitiaoyue”in the morning.

Keyi Town, is a town called "auspicious place" by Axi Yi nationality with a long history of more than 360 years and typical Karst landscape. It is a national intangible cultural heritage well-known at home and abroad - the birthplace of the world's ten famous songs "A Xi Tiao Yue".

Overland drive 1 hour to Mile to visit Mt. Jinpin Scenic Area in the after noon. Here We can see the biggest Maitreya stature, which is built in the year of 1999, with a hight of 19.99 ms on the platform with 1,999 stares.

After breakfast, we will drive 1.5 hrs to Luxi, via Yunnan Red Wine Manor, is the largest red wine producer in Yunnan. The restaurant of the manor is in a complex of architecture similar with French Faye Catholic Church, in which you can enjoy the local food cooked by red wine.

Then pay a visit to Chenzi Yi Minority Village and local culture museum after arrival in the afternoon, Chengzi is a most characteristic Yi-Chinese joint-culture village in Yunnan. With the history over 600 years, this village, full of houses made from clay; use to be site of local Yi Chieftain’s administration center.

Morning depart from hotel, and drive 2 hrs to Mengzi to visit Bisezhai Train Station in Bise village. Bisezhai Train Station is used to be a large station in Yunnan section of Yunnan Vietnam Railway. It is the first railway station built by imperialist invasion of China and the struggle between Chinese people and aggressors. In the afternoon we will go to visit Mengzi Township with former custom site in French concession, Nanhu lake with Yingzhou Pavillion and French Wine Manor.

Morning after breakfast, we will drive 2 hrs to Yuangyang, visit local Azheke village, which means "lush forest" in Hani language, was listed in the third batch of traditional villages in China in 2014, and it is also one of the two well-preserved Hani ancient villages. The traditional way of construction, the traditional concept of reverence and worship for nature, and the harmonious living environment formed by the natural and human landscape in the village reflect the cohesive force, diligence and indomitable spirit of Hani Traditional settlement construction.

Today we will do full-day exploration in Yuanyang for some more spectacular countryside at the Duoyishu Rice Terraces which are beautiful rice paddies carved into the mountainside for the beautiful sunrise. You will stop at Shengcun Village to see the various markets and the traditional ethnic minority cultures. A visit is also arranged to the Jingkou Folk Village to see the simple way of life of the Hani ethnic minority. Then start your hiking tour from qingkou village to Bada village for 2 hours. Enjoy a beautiful sunset in Bada.

Today we will drive approximately 2.5 hours to the Ancient Town of Jianshui, and you have time to explore this wonderfully preserved town. You will see the city wall gates still remaining and the highlight is the Zhu Family Compound which was home to a wealthy merchant. Representing the top level of traditional construction in Jianshui, The Zhu Family's Garden, which use to be the biggest and best private garden in Southern Yunnan by the squire Zhu Weiqing brothers in the late Qing Dynasty, is a group of local building complex, enjoy the reputation of "Grand View Garden in South Yunnan". You will also have a visit to the Confucius Temple built many centuries ago.

Today's tour begin with a visiting to a local Toufu work shop, learn to make local famous toufu. Then drive to visit one of the last remaining cultural villages of the Qing Dynasty. Tuanshan Village is home for the Yi ethnic minority and has many interesting buildings in the traditional architecture. This village is like an unwalled miniature folk residence museum or a maze built by the most talented artisans. Featuring elaborate layout and delicate stone, brick and wooden sculptures, these houses will bring you back to time. The glory of the fading civilization of Ming and Qing, is still alive here. In 2006, it is enlisted into the protection site by  UNESCO. Afterwards, it takes about 45mins to transfer to Shiping County in the afternoon, explore Zhengying Ancient Village to see the unique ancestral halls and houses from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

This morning, you will visit Old Shiping Town which is famous for its tofu and you can see how it is produced as well as trying this out at lunch. Afterwards, you will travel by car back to Kunming. Visit Bird-Flower Market is located in the center of Kunming's downtown area, and is a bazaar focusing on flowers and pets such as goldfish, birds. In addition, you will find there is a wide array of knick-knacks, souvenirs, replica weapons, fish, turtles, rodents, and many other items on sale. Stroll around Green Lake, enjoy your free time and the beautiful scenery, also can explore the local lifestyle.

Morning after delighted buffet, you will be transferred by your driver based on your flight schedule. Wish you a happy journey!
