9 Days beautiful Zhangjiajie & Fenghuang Tour

Our guide and driver will meet you at the airport. Welcome to Zhangjiajie, the first city on our picturesque trip. Then you will be transferred to the hotel for Checking in and the rest of the day is for you to relax and prepare for our Natural Wonder and Culture Adventure. Have a good rest!

In the morning, we will enter Zhangjiajie National Forest Park to explore the Golden Whip Stream on foot. The Golden Whip Stream is famous for its pristine water, verdant mountains, steep cliffs and serene valley. From here the peaks appear to shoot up into the sky like giant natural skyscrapers. The water in the stream is clear, the air pure and the site very well maintained. We will have a relaxing hiking along the stream.

In the afternoon, ascend the biggest summit view point -- Huangshizhai (Yellow Stone Village). We will take a cable car up to the mountain and then visit the Yellow Stone Village. Located in the north of the Golden Whip Stream, it is a large mountain summit platform that offers numerous viewing points for natural views. Thousand of unique mountain peaks rise from the bottom of mountain valley so you will be impressed by the magnificence of these mountains.

Optional Activity: Tonight you will have a chance to attend famous night folk show- Charming Western Hunan at your own expense.

After enjoying your buffet breakfast in the hotel we will start our journey today by visiting Tianzi Mountain. You will ascend the mountain by cable-car and at the top you will be able to enjoy views of Warrior Taming Horse Rock and the Western Sea, which are two of the most stunning mountain formations in the whole park and are really a pleasure to see. 

Then take shuttle bus and battery car to Sky Field Garden, from where you can see some rice field on the top of pillar, which is very spectacular, hike down to a scenic platform, you can get very close to the pillar mountains, which is one of the best view in the park!

Continue to take the shuttle but to get to the top of Yuanjiajie area, which is now famous because of the movie Avatar. From here, you'll stand at the same level with the mid-age pillars, which is bigger than those on Tianzi mountain. At last, take super Bailong Elevator down the mountain and transfer back to hotel. 

Another day to immerse yourself in the paradise on earth!

Freshen yourself by visiting Yellow Dragon Cave. It is the longest cave in Asia with incomparable scenery of fantastic cave landform and extraordinary stones with interesting shapes. The cave had remained mysterious to locals before 1982 when it was discovered by the adventurers.

Thereafter, you will be transferred to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge. The bridge stretches between two cliffs - it’s about 430 meters long and 300 meters above the Grand Canyon. You can see the bottom of the canyon through the bridge when you are walking on it.

After the Glass Bridge we either take zip-line & slide or elevator & slide (weight limit for zip-line: 40kg to 80kg) down to the bottom of the canyon. Then hike along the trails in Grand Canyon, which is indeed another kind of enjoyment. You can just enjoy the quietness, beautiful waterfalls, pristine water and be very close to the nature. All you need to do is just relax yourself and be involved in the nature.

Another enjoyable day tour in Zhangjiajie!

After breakfast,we will head to Baofeng Lake, a holy lake in the top of Zhangjiajie. The Baofeng waterfall hanging on the peaks will stun you. And you can also choose to take a boat to get to Water Paradise which is a typical attraction of Wulingyuan. The lush forest and stone peaks of various shapes surrounding the lake will bring you to a fairy-tale world.

After visiting the lake, let's transfer to Tianmen mountain (literally means gateway to the heaven). As the highest mountain (1548.6m) in Zhangjiajie area, Tianmen mountain owned the longest cable car (7455m) inthe world, which takes half an hour for one-way riding. On the cable car, you can have a bird view of the 99 curves Tongtian road. Enjoy the breathless walking along the glass bottom skywalk against the cliff. The 999 steps can directly reach the amazing Tianmen cave, the natural mountain-penetrating karst cave with the highest elevation in the world. Hanging on the towering cliff, it is indeed a big feast of your eyes!

Another delighted day is coming. Morning we will drive to Furong Town.

Our first stop is Sitting Dragon Gorge (Zuolongxia Gorge). The scenic zone is situated in Guzhang county of Western Hunan. A river separates Furong Town and Zuolong Gorge, and the gorge is isolated in in-depth mountains of western Hunan. It runs 3500 meters long with 300meter drop to the ground. The widest part of the gorge is no more than 3 meters, and the narrowest part only allow one person to pass through each time. Challenge yourself in Zuolongxia gorge is a good idea. The step cliff on the two sides seem to fall down at any time and the plank road was built in the in-depth valley against cliff. But no worries about safety as the iron rope chain protects you all the way. 

Next, enjoy a leisure time in the Red Stone Forest with an area of about 10 square kilometers. The red stones with various shapes crowd the scenic spot and the color of them change with the weather and sunlight. According to the researches of geological expert, these red rocks formed about 450 million years ago and its foundation is submarine deposited sands of the mix of the carbonate materials.

Then stroll around the Furong Town, the original name Wang Village, is an ancient town with a history of more than 2,000 years, because of the magnificent waterfall. The town is a typical image of a small border town in western Hunan. The green slab-stone and stilted building groups reflect the characteristics of Tujia folk house.

Let's continue our visit, in the morning, we will explore Furong Town for 1-2 hours, then drive to Dehang Miao Village. You will experience the most authentic and original Miao culture here no matter what you are interested in, Diaojiaolou or Miao silver.

Next, head to Fenghuang Ancient Town where we will stay overnight. It is a great chance for you to enjoy the amazing night view here. When night falls, don't be shocked, the dotted small lights in somewhere you didn't noticed will suddenly be lighted up! And the whole valley will be changed into a fairyland for a second! Beauty is everything that Fenghuang Ancient Town responses to you.

Today would be a relax day to appreciate the history and minority culture of Fenghuang. As one of the most beautiful ancient towns in China (regarded by New Zealand writer Rewi Alley)---Fenghuang (literally means Phoenix) Ancient Town, which is an ancient town with a history of 300 years and has been listed as the World Culture Heritage by UNESCO in 2008, there are numerous hidden gems scattered in the town. The stilted building groups (Diaojiaolou) besides the river (over 600 years old), the former residence of Shen Congwen (who is one of the most well-known modern Chinese writers), the ancestral hall of the Yang family, etc.

Strolling along the riverside and the long narrow streets paved by flagstones and crossing the river through the stepping stones or via the old and primitive narrow bridge near the Beimen Matou (North Gate Pier) is just like a time traveling to bring you back to the pre-modern world.

Today is the last day of your trip. After a relaxing morning in Fenghuang, we will drive back to Zhangjiajie to catch your flight based on the schedule. Wish you a pleasant journey home and hope to see you again in your next China tour!
