Day 1Xining Arrival

On arrival at Xining airport, you will be met by your guide and driver,  and then you will be transferred to the hotel. Your guide will assist you with hotel check-in.

In the afternoon, drive to visit Ta'er Monastery, which is the activity center of Tibetan Buddhism in northwest China and enjoys a high reputation in China and Southeast Asia. The central government of all dynasties highly respected the religious status of the Ta'er Temple.

Day 2Hike Near Laji Mountain

After breakfast, drive to visit  Laji Mountain (single cable car incl., hike around 1.5 hours), which is called "Gongmula" in Tibetan, meaning the place where Gala chicken (stone chicken) lives. The highest peak on the mountain is 4524 meters above sea level. Laji Mountain is the boundary between Huangzhong and Guide, and also the boundary between the Loess Plateau and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Hike to a tall mountain past red rock formations for a great view of the valley. After hiking, drive to Guide, a Tibetan town on the Yellow River, and then check into the hotel.

Day 3Explore the Kanbula National Park

After enjoying your breakfast, drive to the Kanbula National Park. It is composed of the Danxia landform, forest vegetation, religious culture, power station dam, canyon reservoir area, and Tibetan customs, integrating natural landscape and cultural landscape. See Namzong Nunnery inside the park, then hike to viewpoints and pagodas and see a small Tibetan farmer village.

Day 4Visit the Longwu Monastery and admire Tang-ga painting

After breakfast, drive to Longwu Monastery. It is built on the mountain and has a well-arranged layout and magnificent decoration. Take a short hike to experience Tibetan Buddhist culture.

Then, we are going to try to make a Tang-ga painting. Tang-ga is a unique painting art form in Tibetan culture. It has distinctive national characteristics, strong religious color, and a unique artistic style, and depicts the holy Buddha's world with bright colors.

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
