Day 1Explore the Nanshan Mountain Scenic Spots (65 kms)

Welcome to Urumqi, the capital city of Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region and the farthest land from any ocean.  It is the heaven of travelers for its beautiful natural scenery, profound cultural deposits and special local customs and practices. Today we will visit the scenic spot of great charming in the Nanshan Mountain.


Our professional tour guide will meet you at your located hotel lobby. Your private day tour to Nanshan Mountain continue with the driving of 2 hours, going up against the valleys, one can see steep cliffs, waterfalls, and the valleys are densely covered with woods, grass and flowers. On the emerald green meadow, the Kazak herdsmen are holding recreational and sports activities, such as horse racing, lamb tussling and girl chasing. If you like, you can visit a Kazak yurt and enjoy kumiss, cheese stewed mutton, shish kebab and other foods of folk flavors.


Travel Tips make an effort to enjoy the very best experience of tour: Please bring some snacks for simple lunch. You can have late lunch in the Yurt of local Kazakhs where you can experience the traditional nomadic life in present Xinjiang.

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
