Highlights of Fengdu Ghost City

Cultural and Historical Significance

Fengdu Ghost City dates back to the Eastern Han Dynasty (25–220 AD) and is steeped in legends. It is said that two Taoist immortals practiced here, and their combined names, Yinwang, mean "King of Hell". This gave rise to the city's association with the underworld.

The site is divided into two main areas: Mingshan Scenic Area and Ghost King Stone Carvings. Mingshan features temples and structures representing the afterlife, while the stone carvings showcase intricate Han Dynasty tombs.

Iconic Attractions

Tianzi Palace: The largest and oldest temple in the area. It houses statues and paintings depicting the judgment of souls.

Ghost Gate: The entrance to the underworld, where visitors must present a "Lu Yin", a symbolic pass to the afterlife.

Naihe Bridge: A bridge symbolizing the transition from life to death. Legend says that crossing it ensures a smooth journey to the afterlife.

Nighttime Experience

At night, the Ghost City transforms into a hauntingly beautiful destination. 3D holographic projections and live actors create an immersive experience, with Black and White Impermanence (deities escorting souls) welcoming visitors.
