Zhangjiajie City is located in the northwestern part of Hunan Province, China, in the heart of the Wuling Mountains. Zhangjiajie City is located between 109°57′ and 111°13′ east longitude and 28°52′ and 29°48′ north latitude.
Zhangjiajie City has two districts: Yongding District(永定区) and Wulingyuan District(武陵源区), and two counties: Cili County(慈利县) and Sangzhi County(桑植县). The municipal government is located in Yongding District.
