8 Days Chongqing and Chengdu Tour

Today you will catch the flight or train to Chengdu We will meet you at the airport or train station with a welcome board, then bring you to the downtown hotel and check in. Have a good rest.

In the morning, after enjoying your nice buffet breakfast, we will start the trip to Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi). The area is vast to walk around. The enclosures for the pandas are divided into three parts, including an adult area, juvenile Pandas, and the breeding center with the tiny babies. It was lots of fun to watch them interact with each other and their environment.

Thereafter, we will move on to the Wuhou Memorial Temple, which was built in the 6th century in memory of Emperor Liu Bei and the Prime Minister Zhuge Liang of the Shu Kingdom. Then drive to Du Fu Thatched Cottage, which is the former residence of the Du Fu who is one of the greatest poets in China's history. 

Let's start our fantastic mountain journey. On this day, you will be driven about 2 hours to Leshan and visit Leshan Giant Buddha, the tallest and largest Buddha in the world. It is carved on the cliff of Lingyun Mountain with a delicate design of the drainage system. It was included by UNESCO on the list of World Heritage sites. It carved out of the cliffs at the confluence of the Dadu, Minjiang River, and Qingyi Rivers.

Later, you will dip into Kuan & Zhai Alley, a relatively well-preserved ancient street in Qing Dynasty. It is a famous commercial and cultural pedestrian street in China. There are many delicious food, and you can enjoy your lunch here. Walk through the Jinli Old Street to admire the architecture and unique local fun. Enjoy Sichuan cuisine for dinner at a local restaurant this evening.

Today in the morning, we will take the high-speed train to get to Chongqing city. Our first site for today is Hongya Cave, which is located in the downtown of Chongqing by the riverside of Jialing River. It used to be one of top eight ancient scenaries. Hongya Cave has a very special contruction feature which is built on hillside and on riverside,with one side of the house resting on rocks while the other three sides supported by wooden or bamboo poles. We suggest you board the ship in the evening, sail on the Jialing River and enjoy the night view of Hongya Cave.

Then drive to Liberation Monument. This is the landmark of Chongqing to commemorate the victory in Anti-Japanese War. Nowadays, it has become the center of Chongqing city with many tall buildings surrounding it. When it comes to the best food street, the streets around liberation monument are always on the list. Ciqikou located in the riverside of Jialing River is also well-known for the street food and local special restaurants.It is an ancient town which history can be traced back to 500 to 600 years ago. It once gathered many porcelain workshops and gradually became the food street.

We will drive to Wulong District of Chongqing today to visit the Wulong Karst National Geology Park. There are 2 wonders which is Tiankeng and Difeng. "Tiankeng" means the hole in the sky, which is a kind of sinkhole. "Difeng" means the slot on the ground, which is a kind of gorge. In the Tiankeng scenic area, there are 3 natural limestone bridges lying between the 2 sinkholes which are demonstrating a maginificent picture of the large Karst. And it is also one of the shooting spot of .

In the afternoon, we will head to Difeng -- Longshuixia Fissure Gorge. It is a typical Karst landscape with 5 kilometers long and 500 meters deep. The gorge is formed by the orogenic movement with millions of years. The gorge now has become a large and fantastic valley with steep cliffs on the two sides and lush vegetation on the surface with the running streams and waterfalls.

Today we will go to a fairy world -- Fairy Mountain! It is a very beautiful mountain with lush forests and alpine grasslands. In summer, it is a wonderful summer resort for you to escape from the boiling city. The fragrance of grass will be sent to you with the gentle breeze on the mountain. In winter when snow falls, the world will be changed into a white world, clean and bright. You will be embraced by the lovely ice and snow world to feel the breath of freedom! Release yourself in such a fascinating mountain and run freely on the grassland to be the most free one in the world!

Later in the day, drive back to Chongqing to stay overnight.

After breakfast, you will be met at the hotel lobby and transfer you to Dazu and visit the Baodingshan, known as Mount Baoding, Precious Summit Mountain, and Summit of Treasures, is a Buddhist site in Chongqing. Then visit The Beishan Grottoes were carved beginning in the late Tang, that culminated in the Song-Dynasty carvings at Baodingshan and Anyue County. 

In the afternoon, drive back to Chongqing downtown and we will pay a visit to Zhazidong Prison. It is one of the two prisons in Shapingba district of Chongqing that is owned by the former Nationalist Party of China (Kuomintang). It was used to imprison the communists in 1940s and nearly 300 communists were massacred here. Not far from the Zhazidong Prison is Bai Mansion. Although named mansion, it was actually also a secret prison to imprison the senior members of Chinese Communist Party. Those 2 are both excellent place to feel the red revolutionary culture of China.

Today is the last day of your journey. We will head to experience the Yangtze River Cable Car and High-altitude Subway in the morning. It is a unique program that you could only experience in the mountain city Chongqing. Thrilling and exciting, you will be “hanging” in the air and appreciate the city scenery and the river scenery in the cable car! Chongqing subway is also quite interesting as it will drive through the buildings. Yes, driving through, which means there is a hole in the building to have the subway running through!

Afterwards, say goodbye to the lovely Chengdu. You will be transferred to the train station or airport and then take the high-speed train or flight back to your sweet home. Wish you a pleasant journey and hope to see you again in your next China trip!
